Winter Olympics

The Olympics are a world-wide phenomenon but when its in Canada, we Canadians really do get overexcited. But who wouldn't, do you think in Beijing they took it lightly when they had the summer games. No they had the best opening ceremony and overall had a tremendous Olympics. But as Canadians we usually fair well in Winter Olympics over the Summer winters and more importantly our Hockey (which deserves another blog at this point). This foundation "OWN THE PODIUM" spent over 110 MILLION thinking we would dominate when it came to medals. Result 11 with 5 days remaining. Are you kidding me..I guess the bright side is that 66% of our medals are gold! But the thing that truly grinds my gears is the "added pressure" and that "it was too tough"are athletes are saying. Are you telling me that if it was in Antarctica we would have won all the medals because its not in Canada. The late Herb Brooks once said "The name on the front is more important then the name on the back." Which speaks volumes when it comes to the Olympics. It does not matter if your Sidney Crosby, Alex Bilodeau or Jon Montgomery you play for one thing and one thing only; CANADA.! People like Melissa Hollingsworth and Danny Morrison said to the media that there was a lot of pressure and the need to achieve.. But why wouldn't there be. First of all, its the Olympic games everyone is watching. To further back my first point you have been training a good part of your life to do well in your sport so yeah you won't give it all. But to say things like the pressure got to me, I mean in every sport there is pressure even Scott Moir and Tessa Virtue had pressure going into their dance last night their 22-20 respectively and they went out and got gold. You had the advantage you have skied the mountains and bobsledded the courses and played in the rinks I mean we should really have a medal in about everything besides Cross Country lol.. My basic take is for all these athletes who are saying that the "pressure" got to them. I love Canada and I have been cheering my ass off every night for them but, I say screw em their not true athletes and they are not representing Canada any means.. Oh yeah are medal count is 11.. But we have had 27 top 5 finishes.. Cough Cough!
